Staff
A team of veteran professionals comprise the Office of Gift & Estate Planning. Expertise includes administration, legal, solicitation, stewardship, presentations, advice and support.

Judi Freyer, Director Prior to joining the planned giving team in 2007, Judi's OU career included: alumni field director; editor of alumni publications; director of special events; and director of public relations. From 1987 to 2007, Judi was executive director of the 3000-member President's Associates. She has a bachelor's and master's degree from the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communications at OU. Judi is a past president of the United Way of Norman, past board member of Salvation Army, and past board member of the Laity Lodge Foundation in Kerrville, Texas.

Rex Urice, Director Rex Urice, attorney at law, joined the University of Oklahoma in May 2004. Prior to joining OU, he served in various capacities with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation including General Counsel and with Development. He has specialized his practice in the areas of estate planning, oil and gas, and working with donors. He began his work with OU in the College of Pharmacy, subsequently adding planned giving to his duties. He grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, receiving his bachelor's degree at OU where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. Rex has been active with numerous charitable boards throughout the state. He is the father of two daughters, Lily and Alexandra, who are also attending the University of Oklahoma.

Gary Beadles, Vice President, OU Foundation Gary Beadles serves as Vice-President and General Counsel of the University of Oklahoma Foundation Inc. He joined the Foundation in 2000 as Vice President of Administration. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Law, Beadles worked in private practice for 28 years, specializing in wills, estates and trusts. At the Foundation, his areas of expertise include oil and gas, estate planning, and working with donors to establish personal fund agreements tailored to provide the greatest benefit to the University and greatest satisfaction to the donor. Beadles is active in Rotary and served as Rotary District Governor in 1990-91. He has three children, Aimee Arnold, Tara Blackwood and Logan Beadles.

Paul Massad, Vice President Emeritus, Senior Associate Vice President & Director of Major Gifts Paul Massad, has been with the University of Oklahoma for 50 years and holds the rare honor of receiving the University's Distinguished Service Award. He is the former executive director of the OU Alumni Association and has led planned gift and major gift activities.

Laura Seay, Coordinator Laura, a cum laude Letters major from the University of Oklahoma joined the Office of Gift & Estate Planning August 2009, to lead the development of systems and administration for the Office. A native of Seminole, OK, Laura brings an extensive professional background in the pharmaceutical industry as well as significant work in strategic sales and marketing for national organizations.
